and they are victimized. But what is the solution for this!! Everywhere we see media like newspaper, magazines, movies, songs, fashion posts..everywhere the MARKET is indulging our youths to divulge their culture for sake of fake western-ism,toms shoes. Girls find themselves more comfortable nowadays in short pants rather salwars/sarees. This is a change indulged by our government, policy makers and of course the bollywood people. Why dont we see actress/models to create an example in front of our youths? This is clearly an embarrassing situation for Indian culture. It will increase incidents like rape more often. Sex is evident part of life; but vandalism and marketing of sex like this will create more problem in our society. I think some really interesting points were made here.@Muralita: I get the impression that a lot of the women who were upset felt that way not necessarily only because of the nature of the advice but where it was coming from. I think women in India are quite accustomed to being offered advice by, say, parents or other family members on being careful about their clothing or how late to be out private advice in a private sphere, cheap toms shoes. But it is also important to admit there are issues of concern in the larger social milieu. It s interesting the issue of clothing is so loaded and brings out so many different sorts of responses and this probably speaks to deeply ingrained ideas all of us have about men, toms outlet, women, and the relations between them.It might also be reassuring to think that day-to-day personal choices can play a large role in whether someone is a victim of a crime or not. But this may not always be true.I d like to mention that women s groups say that in rural areas women are often assaulted when they go to the bathroom because many homes don t have toilets and so women go to secluded areas to answer the call of nature outdoors which invariably involves exposing some part of the body. But certainly no one would suggest that women avoid going to the bathroom to avoid the chance of an assault? Thanks again and keep reading,Tripti Lahiri/India Real Time editor 4:08 pm July 12, 2011 Krsna wrote: I am a woman, a liberal woman, living alone abroad and if it comes to the advise, frankly, I find nothing wrong in it, except maybe the way it has been said. I advise my children to be careful when they are on their own and mind the kind of environments they are in when it comes to attire for not every person you meet is either a liberal or a rapist. On the other hand, I have also equipped my children to be prepared to deal with danger. Having said th
