The “My Heart Will Go On” hitmaker will not return to the stage until her next scheduled round of shows at Caesar’s Palace, which begin June 9 (6/9/12).

According to an article posted yesterday at TheHollywood Reporter.com, the singer flew to Los Angeles on Monday (2/27/12), and was examined by Gerald Berke at UCLA Medical Center, who diagnosed Dion as having a weakness in her right vocal chord, stemming from the viral infection.

The doctor prescribed 6 to 8 weeks of voice rest to guarantee full recuperation.

In a statement, Dion says, “I tried to sing at my soundcheck last week, and I had no control of my voice whatsoever. We thought that after a few days rest I would improve, but it wasn’t getting any better... I guess it was worse than I thought.”
