As of this writing,New Release, the Collinsville assistant communitydirector has sent many emails to parties, inviting those who are"passionate" to attend a Planning Commission public forum on May12. The notice was sent by Cassie Meyer, administrative assistant,Community Development Department.Through all of the window-dressing describing the invitation, Ibelieve this is a special meeting of a subsidiary body regulated bythe new Illinois Open Meeting Act. I doubt if the commission hasprescribed reasonable rules for recording the proceedings. Nor do Ibelieve any person wanting to express commission improvementopportunities will be permitted to address public officials asmandated. As in the past, attendees' responses will be controlledand will invite civil disobedience from those who choose not to belemmings. When the 2010 Treasurer's Report is finally published, the smalltype will hardly be readable and salaries will be bracketed,www.fashionjeansamerica.com. Thefollowing is for 2010 gross: Paul Mann, development director,$100,326; Mitch Baer, assistant development director,Diesel Jeans, $69,806;Tracy Carlson, planning assistant, $57,603; downtown coordinator,Leah Joyce, $26,229, replacing Melissa Levy $19,636; Aaron Nolte, administrative assistant, $8,199; Gary Clark,Swarovski charm bracelets, education liaison,$6,525. Totaling over $280,000. Benefits are at least 25 percent,www.abercrombieclothesonline.com,bringing the annual total to $350,000. There are also other sizableexpenses, all coming from TIF.Collinsville, with 26,000 people, is home rule but with onlyfive voting representatives. Our city manager ($138,Links of London Rings,000) needs onlythree votes to have old TIFs renewed and rob the general fund. Thenwater and sewer fees are increased and W&S employees are usedfor streets to prop up the general fund.Bob DesPain, Collinsville Collinsville Il Related articles:
