Enlarge Photo Kris Pals has a lot of animals. He's rescued even more. He'sreached the city's pet limit (two dogs or three cats, or acombination of each not to exceed four), and every time he goesboating, he looks for stray dogs and cats he can rescue.With the early summer floods,Tory Burch Flats, he said he wasn't able to get outmuch on the river, but when he did, he found himself spending thewhole day rescuing animals with his wife of two years, Dani,instead of floating down the river.An animal lover and board member of the St. Charles HumaneSociety, Pals is a lifelong St. Charles resident who owns PalsProperties, a real estate firm,Guess Dresses, with his father. He also createdthe Clean-Team seven years ago, which is responsible for keepingkey parts of St. Charles free of litter."We came up with a plan to start the litter team to pick uplitter in high-visibility areas," Pals said of bringing the idea toMayor Patti York and the city's beautification committee. "St.Charles depends on tourism and we want people to really come hereand enjoy themselves."Pals also is involved with the YMCA and considers volunteeringan important part of his life, a trait he says comes from hisparents."I was born and raised here. My mom and dad have always beeninvolved in different organizations and it was something I was borninto," Pals said,The North Face Men's Rain Jackets. "They love to volunteer and help out."The litter cleanup team is one of his favorite volunteeractivities because it provides visible results, he said."I really enjoy working with the litter team because there'sinstant gratification," Pals said. "You can see there's a lot ofarea and within a few hours we can beautify it and it's green."While the Clean-Team gives him immediate rewards, the St.Charles Humane Society is his passion.No matter where he goes, Pals is always prepared to find a straydog or cat in need of help."I keep one of those dog kennels in the back of my truck," Palssaid. He also has a snare to safely catch aggressive dogs and takethem to the humane society."We've always had animals (as kids) and my mom has always been ahuge animal lover,The North Face Women's Down Jackets," Pals said. "The St. Charles Humane Society issomething I'm passionate about because we've got a capital campaignto try to build a new facility."That campaign, he said, was hurt by the flood season, whichdiverted attention from the drive.When he's not at a function for the humane society or thecleanup team, Pals enjoys the fall hayride season. At theirproperty near Bogey Hills Country Club, his parents donate hayridesto charitable organizations.With the start of the school year comes a need for workers onthe Clean-Team. College students who worked on the team have goneback to school,Guess Store. The team is looking for two to four individuals tohelp clean up St. Charles.
