while playing video
I have a Dell-Latitude D600 with Windows XP (Service Pack 3). If it matters, my computer charges and mainly is stationed on a docking station due to the computer being unable to charge via a standard charger. However, that really doesn't have much to do with the issue but I figure the more info given the better.
While watching a video online (in Dailymotion, Megavideo, Wisevid, Ustream, Justintv etc, http://www.pandorahome.co.uk - pandora jewellery .) the video plays fine for 5-10 where the video starts to freeze. For whatever reason, this issue never occurs in youtube, http://www.gaydatinghq.com/member/blog_post_view.php?postId=108567 - http://www.gaydatinghq.com/member/blog_post_view.php?postId=108567 . New frames will be shown every 30 seconds (very choppy) or so and the audio continues perfectly. Also, my keyboard and mouse are hooked up via the docking station in a USB port and I notice they either stop working during this time or become very choppy and inefficient. Also, http://www.storethomas.co.uk - thomas sabo sale , a few times I took it off the docking station and the video started playing fine for a few minutes before it did the same thing again.
I noticed watching the task manager that the computer spikes up in CPU very high when watching the video. Then when you pause the video, the CPU dramatically dips down, http://www.cocktaildressie.com - cocktail dress . It usually starts in the 80-90% range before it slowly creeps up to 100%. I have tried running video without any applications open and it doesn't do the trick. As it gets closer to being at 100%, that is when the freezes mostly occurs.
I have taken a few steps already. I reinstalled flash player, hasn't helped. I did a registry cleanup to see if any activex files were invalid, didn't help. I updated my drivers and it did the exact opposite of helping, http://www90552com.a.169e.cn/plus/view.php?aid=104361 - http://www90552com.a.169e.cn/plus/view.php?aid=104361 . My USB devices (keyboard and mouse) wouldn't work so I downgraded again so that would work again. The updated video/audio driver (not sure which) has caused a BSOD anytime I watch a downloaded video in DIVX player. I also noticed during startup and when the screensaver comes on the dimensions are no longer full screen. I'm not positive yet that downgrading the drivers has fixed it just yet.
Also, in addition, I went in and cleaned the fan and so far it seems to have helped only marginally, not significantly.
Sometimes when this error occurs I do end the plugin proccess on task manager and the computer eventually goes back to normal. So I figure it has to be video card related.
I've also been noticing the computer gets very hot. Interestingly, this problem has spiked now that it is hotter outside and thus in my room. I don't think overheating has anything to do with it because I feel like other parts of the computer would be effected by it, http://chinesefirst.org.au/home/space.php?uid=76163&do=blog&id=1710456 - http://chinesefirst.org.au/home/space.php?uid=76163&do=blog&id=1710456 . The rest of the computer doesn't seem to have many other problems outside of the norm.
I did look at the website. I was a bit confused on how to navigate though. However, to be clear, that issue happened long AFTER the cpu 100% usage while playing videos occurred on a regular basis. It was a result of me attempting to update the drives. Most of them I had to downgrade again because they were causing malfunctions. That one I described was one of them. Eventually, my computer rebooted and the screen was low resolution and the screen was only showing about half of it's capacity. What I did was disable the Mobility Raedon 900 display adapter and the computer rebooted to the default monitor and it works just fine.
Now, for the issue of the 100% CPU usage, any thoughts?
ETA: I've noticed that sometimes when my computer gets slow and the CPU is at capacity (while not playing video), the System Idle Process is taking up the most CPU. Should that be happening?
ETA2: The other day I did uninstall the Intel PCIC Compatible PMICIA Controller from the device manager because it had a yellow warning button. This was already after my issue was happening so far nothing seems to have changed. Is it okay that I did that?
